There’s something magical about spending an evening surrounded by the beauty of the countryside, especially when you’re in the presence of both a talented horse trainer and a remarkable horse. My recent visit with Clarence, a skilled horse trainer and fence builder from Seymour, Iowa, was nothing short of enchanting. We spent the evening capturing content of his incredible horse, King, a 6-year-old sorrel gelding who is set to make his debut at the Jamesport Horse Sale on August 29th and 30th.

As the golden hour approached, the fields surrounding Clarence’s farm were bathed in a warm, soft light—perfect for photographing a horse as striking as King. Standing tall at 16.3 hands, King’s presence is undeniable. His four white socks and bold blaze accentuate his sorrel coat, making him a true standout in the field. But King is more than just a pretty face; he’s a versatile draft cross, both ride and drive broke, with a temperament that makes him an ideal companion for any family.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace. There’s a certain serenity that comes with spending time in the presence of such well-trained and well-loved animals. King’s gentle demeanor and Clarence’s expert handling made the evening feel effortless, as though the two were simply enjoying another day on the farm.

For those in the market for a hardworking, good-looking gelding who is as trustworthy as they come, King is not one to be missed. His first sale is coming up fast, and I have no doubt that he will make a lasting impression on anyone who meets him.
